Abstract

Hospitals are places where people meet which have the potential to generate medical and non-medical waste. Improper waste management can result in environmental pollution and damage. The Samosir Regency Environmental Service has the task of carrying out environmental affairs. Formulation of the problem in this research; What supervision does the environmental service carry out regarding the management of medical waste and what obstacles do the environmental service experience in supervising medical waste management? This legal research is empirical research, namely research carried out by focusing on the facts of the object being studied. This research concludes that the supervision carried out by the Samosir district environmental service is direct supervision by examining the semester reports provided by RSUD Dr. Hadrianus Sinaga and examine whether the report is in accordance with what is happening in the field. Environmental agency supervision has been carried out but is not yet optimal. The obstacle faced by the environmental service is that it does not yet have an environmental supervisory officer and the hospital does not have a commitment to managing medical waste. To deal with obstacles in waste monitoring, the environmental service can appoint regional environmental service supervisors and can provide training for waste processing officers at hospitals.
