Abstract
Cannabis is a hot topic regarding its medicinal use and its regulation. Awareness of the medical potential of cannabis is increasing, with research showing compounds such as CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) are effective at treating a range of medical conditions, such as chronic pain and epileptic seizures. This research discusses law enforcement against cannabis users as medicine in Indonesia, with a normative legal research method that analyzes legal norms. The purpose of the research is to find justice in the use of marijuana as a medical drug. In conclusion, cannabis, or marijuana, with the scientific name Cannabis Sativa, is prohibited in Indonesia based on Law Number 35 Year 2009 on Narcotics, which affirms the prohibition of the use of cannabis for medical purposes and stipulates criminal sanctions against its misuse. The government argues that the legalization of medical cannabis risks more negative consequences than benefits, given Indonesia's high incidence of drug abuse and large population. Policies related to the use of medical cannabis should be designed very carefully and involve good education to the public and medical professionals.
