Abstract

Implementation of Government Regulation Number 56 of 2022 concerning Communal Intellectual Property requires an important role from every Regional Government throughout Indonesia. The implementation of this regulation also has a major impact on the legal protection of Communal ntellectual Property so that its existence is guaranteed. Legal protection is carried out as an activity that guarantees the rights of every Indonesian citizen, especially in the cultural sector. The role of each Regional Government determines whether the legal protection activities for each Communal Intellectual Property are running well and optimally. This research was conducted to find out the role of implementing the protection of Communal Intellectual Property for the type of Traditional Cultural Expression and what obstacles are experienced in protection activities, especially in Sintang Regency, Province. West Kalimantan. This research refers to Government Regulation Number 56 of 2022 concerning Communal Intellectual Property using a normative juridical method by conducting interviews with relevant sources. The purpose of this article is to find out the role and obstacles experienced in protecting Traditional Cultural Expressions by the Regional Government of Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan. This legal research is normative legal research where the author collects data from legal facts through interviews with sources and focuses on primary legal data related to the author's research. The conclusion of this research is whether the implementation of legal protection for Traditional Cultural Expressions has been carried out in accordance with Government Regulation Number 56 of 2022 concerning Communal Intellectual Property and what obstacles have been experienced by the Regional Government of Sintang Regency, West Kalimantan Province in implementing legal protection for Traditional Cultural Expressions in the Regency Sintang, West Kalimantan Province.
