Abstract

This study focuses on the supervision of the Environmental Service on the management of medical waste at the Perdagangan Regional General Hospital, Simalungun Regency, as an effort to prevent environmental pollution. The Environmental Service is tasked with ensuring that medical waste management is in accordance with applicable regulations in order to avoid negative impacts on the environment. Data were obtained through interviews with staff at the Perdagangan Regional General Hospital, the Environmental Service and the Head of Perdagangan III Village, as well as analysis of waste management reports. The results of the study indicate that supervision is carried out both directly through field visits and indirectly through periodic reports. However, there are obstacles, such as limited budget and human resources, which affect the effectiveness of supervision. In conclusion, supervision of medical waste management at the Perdagangan Regional General Hospital has been running quite well, but requires improvement, especially in terms of reporting and data verification. This study recommends increasing the frequency of supervision and increasing resources to prevent environmental pollution more effectively.
