Abstract

Law enforcement against motorcycle riders as an effort to prevent noise pollution in Kalurahan Caturtunggal, Kapanewon Depok, Sleman, Yogyakarta, is a critical issue given the negative impacts of noise on public comfort and health. This study examines the implementation of Law No. 22 of 2009 on Road Traffic and Transportation, as well as Governor Regulation of Yogyakarta Special Region No. 40 of 2017, which regulates the noise standards for motor vehicles. The findings indicate that law enforcement in this area remains suboptimal. Challenges include a lack of noise measurement facilities, low public awareness regarding the impacts of noise pollution, and inconsistent enforcement of regulations. Additionally, social factors, such as the perception of racing exhaust systems as lifestyle symbols, pose significant obstacles. This study recommends ongoing public education, enhanced supervision, and inter- agency collaboration to create a more comfortable and healthy environment. Community participation in reporting violations is also crucial to strengthening the effectiveness of law enforcement.
