Abstract

This study aims at investigating risk allocation of unit price contracts between DPU's officials (at Province of Jawa Tengah and Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta) and contractors on economic crisis condition. The investigation used the DPU standard form of unit price contracts. The clauses of the contracts that have been observed were : site access, subsurface condition, weather and environmental condition, acts of god, design, labor, equipment and material, government acts, social and politic, tax, variation order and financial failure. The primary data was collected through the use of a set of questionnaires. The sample was based on random sampling in the Province of Jawa Tengah and Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. There were 62 respondents for the survey drawn from 34 contractors and 28 DPU's officials. This thesis used descriptive test to find out average values of their responses. The survey results shows that there is a different interpretation between DPU's official and contractors about risk apportionment of design clauses. In economic crisis condition, a lot of construction projects were suspended and the others were run up by escalation and optimizing. The accident was included force majeure condition.
