Abstract

Watershed is an area of land which is an integral part of the river and its tributaries, which serves to accommodate, store and drain water from rainfall to the lake or to the sea naturally, which is the dividing boundary on land topographic and sea boundary up the water area is still affected by land activities. The problem of this research is how the implementation of the legal protection of the watershed as a protected area in Sleman district and whether there are obstacles in the face in the legal protection of the watershed as a protected area in Sleman. Studies used empirical legal research is focused on people's behavior. The invention of the can is the legal protection of the watershed as a protected area in Sleman not running optimally due've done legal protection measures watershed in Sleman regency, but the steps are still having problems, giving rise to no maximum watershed protection. From the above results it is suggested that given the author and the Local Government of Sleman Regency Center Serayu-Opak need to establish a vision and mission as well as more serious in nature conservation, particularly in watersheds, need more intensive socialization and conduct outreach to the community about the importance of protect the environment in the watershed and tougher sanctions against violations of the watershed as a protected area
