Abstract

The unavailability of concrete-forming materials are often an obstacle in the implementation of development . Based on the problems it is necessary to find measures that can be taken to completion using the natural resources available in the construction project site . Bintan Island and surrounding areas, there is a natural resource that is not worth the bauxite stone quarry with a very large number, when the material stacking concrete form of natural gravel (stone) that fit the requirements of national standard is not easily obtained. As a result, many potential bauxite rock is not suitable to be used as aluminum precursor material is necessary to study its feasibility as a substitute for natural gravel coarse aggregate (stone). Research using experimental methods to test object made cylindrical with a diameter of ±150 mm and ±300 mm high with a variety of fas 0.40; 0.45 and 0.50 were tested compressive strength and modulus of elasticity of concrete at 28 days of age. The results showed that the optimum compressive strength of concrete can be achieved with a coarse stone aggregate of 30.24 MPa bauxite (for fas 0.4) and modulus of elasticity 19759.52 MPa. The results also indicate the nature of the bauxite stone has a high absorption of water resulted in a slump value lower than normal concrete but still meet the requirements of ISO so that the fresh concrete work is not difficult .
