Abstract
Created songs which private radios in Yogyakarta broadcast is an activity of copyrights announcement which has been protected by the copyright law. The protection for song copyrights which private radios broadcast is related to neighboring rights. The purpose this research was to know if those songs which the private radios broadcasted were automatically neighboring right subject. This research was the empirical law which involved sources. They were from the regional office of Departement of Law Human Rights of special region of Yogyakarta and PRSSNI for Yogyakarta region. Besides them, there were also 3 respodents from Retjo Buntung FM, Prambors FM, and UTY FM. This research applied approach qualitative, inductive and interview. The data got from the interview with the sources and respondents was to know the protection of copyright for songs broadcasted by the private radios above in Yogyakarta. The result showed that every broadcasted song would automatically be neighboring rights and there were some kinds of law protection. They were licence and royalty payment to protect the economical right of a song and it was based on UU No.19, 2002 and UU No.32, 2002.
