Abstract

This research was aimed to examine the influence of flyover construction towards space management development of Janti Region, Caturtunggal Village Head, Sleman Regency viewed from its characteristics and also changes happened in Janti Region included built space (solid), non-built space or open space (void) and interspace link available (linkage). This research viewed regional development that was divided into two layers i.e. space management condition prior to flyover construction and after flyover development. Data gathering method was obtained from observation, aerial photo search prior and after flyover construction and interview. After being examined so that it was distinguished into which parts influence of flyover development were and which parts influence of regional developments were. From flyover development influence examination findings, it was obtained changes in regional space management i.e. building mass changes (solid) in form of building mass addition and appearance shape changes, style, building material and height that adjusted region development and a responsive condition towards space condition due to flyover construction. While in open space (void) there happened region open space width decrease in road network, parking and garden (open space under flyover). The relationship among space in flyover construction visually i.e. road side building growth with new shapes and styles so that building appearance shapes was in overall not proportional. Besides, it also accelerated Janti Area accessibility as well as its surroundings regions, while structurally the relationship among spaces in the region i.e. extra development where new buildings emerged with new shapes and new architectural styles were not balanced with the existing building conditions, in collective relationship Janti street was increasingly stronger in its roles as road network main framework in that region. Besides, the result from influence of flyover construction further would be divided: which one positive influence (potential) was and which one negative influence (problem) in Janti region space management was available today. From this analysis it was found problem that was negative influence in region in built space namely: skyline, style, KDB and material and in open space of yard, road network, garden, parking and open space i.e. rice field. While potentials or positive influence in region space management viewed from built space i.e. mass order, style and material, while in open space i.e. yard, open space in forms of road, garden, parking and open space in form of rice field.
