Abstract
The purpose of writing this law is to determine and analyze the role of Yogyakarta’s Police Department in tackling sexual violence that occurs in children and to identify and analyze the obstructions that happened when tackling the sexual violence cases. Types of legal research used in this study is a normative legal research, which is a research using secondary data as the main data and primary data as supporting data. The results of this study are: (1) The role of the police in dealing with the crime of children sexual violence that occurs in Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta (DIY) is done according with the duties and authority that police should be able to be the protectors of the people, the shelters of the people, and especially to be able to serve the community well. The efforts that have been doing by the police, which are, pre'emtif effort means pre'emtif actions carried out by the police in tackling sexual violence that occurs in children, the police take steps to record such events and also potential places of the sexual act, for example: hotels, entertainment venues, internet stations. Besides, the police also do another action, which is conducting a survey of the activities. Preventive efforts mean efforts to prevent the crime or offense by eliminating the factor of chance. All efforts and activities in the field of police are done to maintain the public security and maintain the safety of people and property, including providing protection and help. Particularly to prevent the other acts that can be in legal and other actions that can essentially threaten and endanger public order and peace. Repressive efforts mean takeing actions against the offenders in the process to get to court. (2) In the process of tackling sexual violence that occurs in children, the police face number of obstacles. Police have been carrying out their duties and functions according to the applicable rules of the police force, but some obstacles such as lack of good human resources and lack of fee provided by the state in tackling the cases.
