Abstract

The development of library in the information era has been utilized as information center, source of science, research, and science preservation. The role of library has been developed into community center. People can come together to the library as the development of science and culture through any social science. Based on this consideration, library plays important role to support the quality of education. However, demographic and transportation condition become an obstacle to get access to the library. A cause of long distance has decreased people interest to access the library. It has been considered that certain distance is not beneficial enough for the sake of time and money. This research is conducted in order to analyze, design, and to build an online information system for library which is used as a medium and an information bridge for Kupang Regency people. Mobile web has become an option that fit the recent condition in which almost all people start using celuler phone to communicate, to access the social network in any given time or place. Information system is built by using JQuery Mobile framework, PHP, and MySQL database. The services provided in this system are an online registration to become library member, book searching service, and online book order. In addition to his, people can see their own borrowing list and do borrowing extension by themselves. They can also get any information related to cost they need to pay due to the lateness of book return. The result of this research is in the form of website and mobile web-based of library information system which is beneficial for the user and the library site itself. The result of the test confirm that 98,125% of the user claim that this website-based system can run smoothly, and other 99,44% state that mobile webbased can also run smoothly and ease the user in accessing into library resources.
