Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of the application of physical variables on changes in the value of the parameter measuring the object of study hall acoustics UAJY Student Center. Physical variables to be studied is a variable volume, variable reverberant chamber, and material variables. Object of study designs are designed for sports activities, large-scale meetings (speech function), and performing music with a sound amplifier. All three of these functions have different acoustic quality demands and applying acoustic design space to achieve the required standard of value is the hard thing to do. The study was conducted by using a simulation program CATT Acoustic v8. The study begins by determining the type and location of the speakers, and then determine the application of physical variables. Each physical variables are divided into several types of models. The parameters to be used as a benchmark assessment is RT60 (T-30), STI, and EDT. The simulation result will be compared to seek a conclusion that can be used on the object study or used by other planners. The results of numerical experiments demonstrate the use of physical variables capable of providing a change in the value of the parameter measuring the diverse tendencies. Application of physical variables on the object study utilizing design that has a corridor space and the space above the ceiling as a variable volume and variable reverberant chamber also the use of material variables. The simulation results on the object of study showed an increase in the value of the parameter RT60 measurement of speech functions to the function of progressive music and orchestral music by an average of 14% and 28%. Decline in STI value also occurs in proportion to the increase in RT60 value.
