Abstract

Some efforts that have been done b.v tile authority of Turkey to fight against a movenlent of Fethullah Gullen effected Indonesian illierests. The movement of Fethullah Gullen has been suspected liS a mastermind ofthe failed military coup that happened in Turkey in 2016. Because of those effort, there were four Indonesian nationals that have been catched and detained by the authority ofTurkey. The catching based on a suspicion oftheir involvement in the said movement. Remembering article 3 of the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations that one ofthe functions of diplomatic mission namely to protect ill the receiving State the interests of sending State and of its nationals, then Indonesian Diplomatic Agent in Turkey should make effifts to protect the said Indonesian nlltionals. There were many efforts that have been done by Indonesian Diplomatic Agent such as demanding consular access, appointing lawyers to accompany their legal process, approaching the authority of Turkey, providing facilities to live temporal{v llnd others. As a result ofthose efforts, three of the said Indonesian nationals hllve been released by the authority of Turkey, nonetheless Indonesian Diplomatic Agellt still efforts to free the only one Indonesian national that is detained andfacing tile legal process in Turkey.
