Abstract
The research's aim is to describe the investment portfolio and motivation of investors in allocating their financial assets. Based on the survey to 100 busenessmen in Yogyakarta region, it is uncovered that all businessmen in Yogyakarta allocates part of their assets in land and construction as a choice of investment. Most businessmen in Yogyakarta region (59%) makes separation berween their private and business wealth. Most businessmen in Yogyakarta region prefers to allocate their investmen in the kind of land, construction, gold, jewellery, rather than on foreign exchange, and bond. The most favourite assets is land. It is followed by construction and housing in second rank. The third rank of the mos prefered investmen is gold and jewellery
