Abstract
This study is going to investigate factors, which influence the effort of small-scale industries of ceramics handicrafts in Klampok, Purworejo Klampok, Banjarnegara, Central Jawa, Mapping and analyzing are the spesial purpose of the study. Econometric model will be utilized for aiming the purpose. Klampok village, located in Banjarnegara region, was chosen because the village is a central of ceramic industries in Java Island. Among 35 firms, 28 units are sampled. Seven firms were eliminated from sampling process, because the firms administratively are connected with othe firms in the sample. Primary data were gathered dictly from the field utilizing guided interviewers. Secondary data are collencted from ASKRI (local ceramics industry association), and several related governmental administration. Multiple regression using Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) approach was utilized in the study. Among several models, the linear model was chosen after MWD(MCKinnin, White, Davidson Test) tests were done. According MWD test recommendation, natural log linear model is the most suitable model fot the purpose. Multicollinearity, heteroskedasticity, and autocorrelation tests are proceeded for confirming the violation of classical assumption. The test show that there are no violations. The study finds out that capital, labor, and work experience are variables, which have strong influence on productivity and income. Education level of the owner is not statistically significant in determining the income level. Five suggestions could be offered from the study. (1) In order improve the productivity of the firm, it is important to improve the use capital. (2) Short course for improving the skill of the labor especially to cope with the varying the ceramics model is suggested. (3) As a matter of academic exercise, it is suggested to alternate the model using different definitions of the variables. (4) It is suggested to introduce new variables, which is expected to influence areas the firm performance, to tha model. (5) The same study is suggested to be applied to different areas and differene industries. The suggested studies will enrich the industrial topology in the region studied.
