Abstract
Peatlands are land that is very functional for life, but if it is not properly functioned it can cause environmental damage. Kubu Raya district has environmental problems that have often occurred due to the burning of peatlands that cause air pollution. Legal issues in this study are how the role of the PRKP and LH Service in controlling air pollution as a result of burning the peatlands. The findings are that the Office of PRKP and LH has conducted socialization to the public about the importance of opening land without burning. The PRKP and LH offices have also conducted surveillance on peatlands that are prone to fires. The PRKP and LH offices coordinate with KPH in controlling air pollution due to the burning of peatlands. Lack of public awareness in clearing land without burning becomes an obstacle to the PRKP and LH Office. As a recommendation, the Office of PRKP and LH needs to improve socialization and supervision of peatlands that are prone to fire.
