Abstract

The title of this thesis is the Preservation Of Environmental Functions Through The Allocation Of Communal Land By The Chieftain in Ende District, Flores, NTT. The purpose of this paper is to find out the role of the chieftain in preserving environmental functions through regulating the use of communal land in Ende Regency, Flores, NTT and to find out what are the obstacles and preservation of environmental functions through regulating communal land use by the chieftain in the Regency Ende, Flores, NTT. The method used is empirical sociological, which is related to the practice of the role of the chieftain and the use of communal land by customary law society, the context of the social behavior of the customary law society regarding land use in relation to the preservation of environmental functions. The process of thinking is carried out in a descriptive qualitative manner by interpreting it in the view of the researcher based on the results of the study. From the thinking process above, the conclusion is that the preservation of environmental functions has been carried out in accordance with the provisions and policies of the chieftain (Mosalaki) who have a strong role in regulating the use of communal land in accordance with customary structures in each communal land and there are no obstacles in preservation environmental functions through the role of the chieftain (Mosalaki) in regulating communal land use.
