Abstract
Legal writing with the title Utilizing Songs in Cafe Activities Reviewed from Law Number 28 Year 2014 Regarding Copyright. The problem that arises is whether the use of songs in cafe activities can be classified as copyright infringement and how the legal settlement if there is a claim from the creator. This study aims to provide an understanding of copyright related to the use of songs by cafe activities for commercial purposes. This study uses empirical research methods that focus on the use of songs in cafe activities. Data obtained from respondents in the form of interviews with several cafe entrepreneurs where the cafe is included in the exclusive criteria. The results showed that the use of songs in cafe activities qualifies as copyright infringement. To avoid the claim of the creator, the Copyright Act has provided a solution by entering into an agreement with the Collective Management Institute to collect royalties.
