Abstract
The preference to work outside of their hometowns and even going abroad is considered by some people, especially women, as one of a way out to alleviate poverty in their families. A high salary offering and a relatively easy job to do are attractive to those who do not have high education and do not have special skills. These women are brave to take risks despite knowing several cases that occur against women workers abroad such as discrimination, violence, harassment, and persecution. This research aims to observe the efforts of the law protection towards women workers in Wonosobo Region from the crime of human trafficking in terms of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women along with the factors that hinder these legal protection efforts. This research is the normative legal research. The research approach used the law approach. The type of research data is secondary data with primary and secondary legal materials. The data collection techniques were literature and field interviews while data analysis techniques which used was deduction. The research conclusion is that the Regional Government of Wonosobo District has made regulations that guarantee legal certainty for women workers, namely the Regional Regulation of Wonosobo District Number 8 of 2016. The implementing instructions of these regional regulations are regulated in Regent Regulation Number 18 of 2017. The regional regulation even downgraded to village regulations, one of them is Tempuranduwur Village Regulation Number 023/X1/DS/2018. Moreover, Wonosobo District Government also cooperates with community institution, the "KITA" Institution Wonosobo Institution helps to initiate the village regulations, equipping women with the necessary skills (handicraft, organic farming, cooking, self-defense).
