Abstract

This Legal Memorandum, entitled "Legal Protection for Consumers against Misuse of Personal Data in Electronic Systems" aims to find out how the Legal Protection for Consumers Against Misuse of Personal Data in the Electronic System as well as legal efforts that must be taken to resolve the problem. This study aims to provide legal opinions, solutions regarding legal protection to consumers and what legal steps must be taken by Indra Lesmana for misuse of his personal data in the electronic system. This research uses a normative legal research method that relies on primary and secondary data. Primary data was obtained from positive law. Secondary data consist of legal opinions obtained from literature studies. The results showed the legal protection for consumers is needed to ensure legal certainty for consumers as those who have a weak bargaining position. Legal action for resolving personal data disputes can be made by filing complaints with the Minister of Communication and Information or by filing a civil suit in the district court.
