Abstract

Domestic violence is a phenomenon that has been going on for a long time in the world, but it is barely audible because of the assumption in the society that domestic violence is a very taboo topic to be discussed in public. That is one of the reason why this case is difficult to reaveled. Besides, domestic violence is widely regarded as a serious problem that affect million of children around the world. Some of the victim choose to keep it as a secret or keep silent and it is difficult for others to looking for help. The thesis is concerning the protection rights for the child that has been through domestic violence in Bandar Lampung by LPA of Bandar Lampung City reviewed from the Convention on the Rights of the Child 1989. The problem formulation is the role of the LPA of Bandar Lampung City in fulfillment of protection rights for child in Bandar Lampung. Based on the research by the writer, the conclusion is that LPA of Bandar Lampung City has been fulfilling their role for protecting the children from domestic violence by 3 methods, such as medical method, psychological method, and legal process (if the children have been through extreme physically abused, so it may enter into a legal process), and they run several programs to upholding the rights of the children. However, the fulfillment of protection right for the child in Bandar Lampung in practice still has several obstacles when running their programs, such as money or funding constraints, human resources, and stigma about domestic violence because it’s taboo topics for a lot of people.
