Abstract

Current technological developments affect all aspects of human life, vending machines are tools that were born from technological developments. The benefits are efficient in the use of time and the disadvantages are like an error machine. Developing technology allows contracts to be made in paperless form, one of which is smart contracts and vending machines are simple forms of smart contracts. This study aims to find out what legal remedies consumers can take if they experience a loss when transacting using a vending machine. The type of research used is normative legal research, namely research that focuses on positive legal norms. In conclusion, there are 2 forms of legal protection in transactions using vending machines. The first is preventive legal protection, the existence of terms and conditions contained in vending machines to obtain compensation. Meanwhile, repressive legal protection is the final protection that can be given in the event of a dispute or violation and there is law enforcement. In this case, consumers can make demands for compensation for defaults when transacting using a vending machine.
