Abstract
Thesis entitled “Waste Management By Waste Bank As An Effort To Prevent Pollution In Sub- District Patangpuluhan, District Wirobrajan, Yogyakarta City (Case Study Kuncup Mekar Waste Bank)”. The waste bank is one of the strategies and innovative solutions to "force" the community to sort waste and ultimately become more respectful of waste according to its type and value. The purpose of establishing a waste bank is to streamline waste management through community participation. The research method used is empirical legal research, namely research that focuses on social facts. This research is conducted directly to the respondents to obtain primary data as the main data and supported by secondary data. The results show that the role of the community in preventing pollution through the Kuncup Mekar Garbage Bank, Sub-District Patangpuluhan Wirobrajan District, Yogyakarta City have not been carried out optimally because it is caused by several obstacles. Communities in the village do not participate and play an active role, the level of community awareness is still lacking to maintain environmental cleanliness, semi-permanent buildings are still very simple, there are still many waste banks that are less active, and people still do not understand how to manage their own household waste.
