Abstract

Refugees are one of the groups whose human rights are still lacking attention, even though refugees are humans too. There are also many refugees in Indonesia, even though Indonesia is a country that has not acceded to the 1951 Geneva Conventions or the 1967 New York Additional Protocol, but Indonesia still accepts refugees. In handling refugees in Indonesia, UNHCR is the agency responsible for these refugees in accordance with the mandate in the UNHCR Statute. One of the refugee rights that must be fulfilled is the right to education for refugee children. This then made the researcher decide to research and write about the role of UNHCR in fulfilling the right to education for child refugees in Indonesia. the research method used is normative research, namely research that refers to literature and focuses on positive law, especially international legal instruments related to this research, additional literature related to this research and supported by interviewing related people. From the data analyzed, conclusions were obtained using the deductive method, namely that UNHCR with its mandate, namely advocacy for inclusion, continues to make advocacy efforts for refugees in Indonesia, including for the right to education for child refugees in Indonesia. Through these results, the authors provide solutions related to this problem to the Government of Indonesia and also UNHCR.
