Abstract

Tanah Kas Desa (Village Treasury Land) is a land that originates from the Sultanate is managed by village Government. Tanah Kas Desa is determined based on a decision letter and an important asset owned by the village government, which should be used to improve the welfare of the residence. However, management of Tanah Kas Desa is often not optimal and the local community’s potentials is not maximized. Using an empirical research method by collecting the primary data method through interview and secondary data from documents in the form of historical reports arranged in archives and literature, this research has conclusion that Kabupaten Bantul is separated into 2 regions called Kalurahan Banturetno and Kalurahan Sitimulyo. In Kalurahan Baturetno, public facilities are built on Tanah Kas Desa which are ricefields, fishpond, cultural house, elementary school, and government office. Meanwhile in Kalurahan Sitimulyo, almost all of the Tanah Kas Desa are utilized for public facility, warehouse, rice field, amusment park ‘Kids Fun’, sport center, and industrial use. The lack of information and socialization about Tanah Kas Desa that is given to the residence make the local community don’t use Tanah Kas Desa for the benefit of their household welfare.
