Abstract

Air pollution in Jakarta, mainly caused by motor vehicle fumes, is a serious issue that affects public health and the ecosystem. This study examines the role of the Jakarta Provincial Government in addressing air pollution and the challenges they face. This research used empirical legal research methods to examine regional legal regulations regarding environmental pollution due to motor vehicle exhaust, supported by primary and secondary data. Data collection methods were carried out using interviews and literature studies along with research data analysis using qualitative methods. The findings show that the Jakarta government has made significant efforts, such as expanding odd-even zones, promoting Work From Home, and implementing environmentally friendly vehicle policies. However, obstacles like low public awareness and poor enforcement of vehicle emission regulations remain. To improve air quality, the government must engage more with the community to ensure compliance with emission standards.
