Abstract
The increasing use of social media for product endorsements by influencers and celebrities has raised concerns over misleading or vague product claims, which may harm consumers. The problem addressed in this study is how Indonesian laws regulate endorsement contracts to protect consumers from such unclear information. This study reviews relevant legal frameworks, including the Civil Code, the Consumer Protection Law, the Electronic Information and Transactions Law, as well as regulations on product oversight by BPOM and advertising regulations from the Ministry of Trade. The findings highlight that while there are existing laws aimed at consumer protection, there is still a lack of specific provisions regarding endorsement contracts on social media platforms. This gap in regulation undermines consumer protection, emphasizing the need for more comprehensive and clear rules to ensure transparency and accountability in endorsement contracts.
