Abstract

The church is a Christians’ religious building. In the protestant church building, commonly there’s no golden rule to design, there’s no specific ornament in the interior. This research discussed about the architectural elements which can make the users of the building feels the religious atmosphere. The research begin with collecting datas by questionnaires which randomly distributed to 100 respondents who are church members. From the data processing of the questionnaire, we know the architectural elements that are dominant. These elements were compared through the study of literature. The results of this study showed that the most dominant element of the room is the cross symbol and stage area as a center of worship. By the time of worship respondents tended to focus on the stage area so that the elements of the other rooms they tend not to notice. This is in line with the design of the room larger church members attention to the stage area, so it looks contrast to the other side of the building.
