Abstract
Data series methods that selected for frequency analysis will influence the design rainfall values.Considering a limited number of rainfall data at DPS (Catchment Area) in Province of Riau especially at DPS Siak, , it is necessary to study about how to approach in determining of data series in order that analysis has the good reliability. According to this case, it is necessary to study about how to approach in determining of data series that can be recommended by determine the level of difference percentage of design rainfall value from two ways of data series determination, they are Maximum Annual Series and Partial Series. So we can determine the maximum limit of lengthening data partial duration series that can be suggested and show the smallest difference percentage of design rainfall or able to be accepted for the accuracy of frequency analysis result. Calculating and comparison of design rainfall value from two ways of data series method helped by computer programme using Borland Delphi version 6.0. The name of this software computer is ADRP (Analysis of Design Rainfall Programme). The calculation of data lengthening variation analysis showing the tendency (trend) of difference percentage between design rainfall value from two methods, increase if partial series data lengthened for several times from maximum annual series data only at 2, 5, 10 and 25 year return period. But, for the 50 and 100 year return period, the tendency (trend) of difference percentage of design rainfall values is not increase in each lengthening data and not increase in each return period. From data lengthening variation, the maximum limit of lengthening data partial duration series is twice of data.
