Abstract

Indonesia is a country that mengapdi law on the country's goal is to bring prosperity and happiness to the people. The role of law enforcement officers is needed in order to enforce the law in a country that is based on the law, but if you look at the fact that the case of Indonesian people have not realized the nature of the country's own laws. Indonesian society more use of vigilante action in dealing with an act, especially in the case of theft which occurred in almost all levels of society. In this study aimed to obtain data about the police in preventing vigilante action against the perpetrators of the crime of theft. In addition to obtaining data that police face in raising public awareness in order not undertake vigilante action against the perpetrators of the crime of theft. By peneliatian Because this is the scope of the disciplines of law, this research is a normative legal research. Sources of data in the form of secondary data consists of primary legal materials that Act, secondary law derived from the legal opinion, scientific books, research results, data from the Internet and the results of the interviews, tertiary legal materials in the form of an explanation of material law primary and secondary legal materials. By analyzing the data of the primary legal materials and secondary law with qualitative data analysis. Based on the description and analysis can be concluded that the efforts of the Police in preventing acts of vigilantism against the perpetrators of criminal acts of theft that approach to public services that can be directly felt by the public, service instructive to the community and students, has made a breakthrough with the program SSDP (One School Two Police ). constraints faced by the police in raising public awareness so that no action vigilante against the perpetrators of criminal acts of theft that spirit of unity / korsa high but does not think about the impact itself or others, lack of socialization law-related, not have a contact person or a police station.
