Abstract

Corretional Institution Class II B Sleman is encountering the over capacity of prisoners. The over capacity of prisoners is a situation when the amount of prisoners are more than the prison’s capacity. Lapas Kelas II B Sleman is a prison that has capacity for 196 prisoners, but now it has 289 prisoners. This can cause correctional institution class II B Sleman isn’t capable to do the correction system that based on The Law Number12 of 1995. The purpose of this legal writing is to discover what is the effect of the over capacity of prisoners to the performance of the correctional institution class II B Sleman. This research is a normative research, it’s focusing on the legal norms of correctional institution. A field research will also be applied as supporting data that will be conducted in correctional institutional class II B Sleman. The result of this research is that the over capacity cause the lack of officers, the lack of facilities and fund. The over capacity cause correctional institution class II B Sleman isn’t capable to do the correction system that based on the law.
