Abstract

In order to uncover cases of robbery with firearms, sometimes requires assistance from other parties, such as assistance from an expert in forensic laboratories / crime lab expert to determine what type of firearm used or in order to trace the identity of firearm ownership based on a fingerprint left behind or under the rest- residual gunpowder result of gunfire. Therefore, the science of ballistics auxiliary aids in particular science is very important to start from the investigation stage through trial. This study aims to determine the role of ballistic science aids in uncovering cases of robbery with firearms and what obstacles they face. Data obtained in the research literature and the field is processed and analyzed in a qualitative, meaning that the analysis by using qualitative measures. Data obtained from literature and field either orally or in writing, then directed, discussed and given an explanation to the provisions that apply, and then conclude with the inductive method, namely to draw conclusions from the general to the particular. Conclusion of the study, that the role of ballistic science aids in uncovering cases of robbery with firearms is to help locate and determine the type of projectile / bullet from a firearm being used, so as to find out who the owner of a firearm and who is using it. Barriers faced by police in preventing the occurrence of robbery with firearms, among others, the number of illegal circulation of firearms, smuggling of firearms, or assembly of firearms illegally in Indonesia, a group of actors in the younger age in sedentary activities and have a network of outside city (professional), so that the disclosure-disclosure or arrest the perpetrator is often incomplete (only some of which caught) or people are still afraid to provide the support in the form of passing
