Abstract

Implementation of the Provincial Police task of Yogyakarta in raising public awareness of the law of the Province of Yogyakarta to be done. Provincial Police Region of Yogyakarta can take preventive action vigilante by increasing awareness of the public law of the Province of Yogyakarta. It is a form of implementation of Law No. 2 of 2002 on the Police of the Republic of Indonesia in Article 14 Paragraph (1) letter c which specifies that "In carrying out basic tasks as referred to in Article 13, the Indonesian National Police in charge of building the community to increase participation community, community legal awareness and compliance with laws and community legislation. Efforts to prevent vigilante action against the perpetrator of the theft can be realized by increasing public awareness of the law. Vigilante justice has occurred several times in the Special Province of Yogyakarta. Criminal theft caught by members of the community is persecuted, even up to death or burned alive by members of the community. This may imply that the public legal awareness needs to be improved, because the actual members of the public who managed to capture the perpetrators of the crime of theft can be said to have been aware of the law, but if the perpetrator of the crime of theft would be persecuted, even up to death or burned alive by members of the community, it is clear awareness of the legal community can be interpreted Yogyakarta province needs to be improved. Based on such matters, the Provincial Police Region of Yogyakarta must step in to raise awareness of the public law of the Province of Yogyakarta as an effort to prevent vigilante action against the perpetrators of the crime of theft. Vigilante justice is one example of action that is not based on Belief in God Almighty, therefore, if there is the phenomenon of vigilante justice, it must have an efficient and effective completion.Research on the Implementation of Police Duties Law DIY In Raising Awareness For Communities in Efforts to Prevent DIY vigilante Against Perpetrators of the Crime of Theft is something that is important in law enforcement in Indonesia.
