Abstract

The function and position of Bank Indonesia as the lender of last resort is the core of Bank Indonesia's function as the central bank. As an institution that aims to achieve and maintain the stability of the rupiah value, one of the authorities that owned by Bank Indonesia is the authority to provide short-term funding facilities and long-term emergency funding facilities whose become a burden on the government. After the law on prevention and treatment of the financial system crisis enacted, the function of Bank Indonesia as the lender of last resort which may be used in emergency or critical condition revoked and declared not applicable. There are juridical factors that cause changes to the authority of Bank Indonesia to provide funding facilities. Now the handling of banks that require long-term emergency funding facilities done by involving the resources of the bank itself, without involving the state budget funds.
