Abstract
Sea transportation in Indonesia today can be said to experience various problems. One of them is marine accidents that claimed many lives and property that disadvantage many one of them transportation service users in the form of losses are usually minor injuries due to loss of life and destruction of objects to loss of property. Responsibility of transporting carriers in waters is regulated in Article 40 to Article 43 of Law Number 17 Year 2008 concerning water transport companies, responsible for the safety and security of passengers and goods transported. Based on the discussion of the results of the research as described above, the authors conclude that the legal efforts that can be used by the service users of transport of goods transported by sea due to ship accidents may use insurance claims in which each party to the carriage of the vessel shall provide insurance quotes to each service user as protection of the goods they will send.
