Abstract
This research entitled the role of the sleman police in handling criminal acts of theft by force. The purpose of this legal research is whether the roles and obstacles faced by the sleman police in tackling the criminal act of theft by force. The police is one of the institutions authorized to maintain order, to ensure public security, and to enforce the law in accordance with the laws and regulations. Serious criminal acts of theft often occur on the streets, markets, shops, parking lots, homes and boarding houses. The role of the police applies to preventive and repressive efforts. Obstacles experienced are lack of sanctions, lack of personnel, less operational costs, less security system. Suggestion writer to Polres Sleman is to improve Employee performance, increase supervision by patrol. The government is expected to increase the number of police personnel, increase police budget, provide facilities and infrastructure. People are expected to keep things and always be careful wherever they are.
