Abstract

This thesis is about the Crime Combating Defamation Using the Law Number 11 Year 2008 on Information and Transactions electronics in Prita Mulyasari case. This thesis aim is to identify and analyze the prevention of criminal defamation using Law No. 11 Year 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions in Prita Mulyasari case. This research is a normative legal one, where the information were collected by literature study and interview. The result of this thesis shows that the penal efforts in combating the crime of defamation in the case of Prita Mulyasari is through a court decision. Countermeasures Criminal defamation by using the ITE Law is still less effective in its application. For recommendation, in the future it is expected that the government and legislators will revise some of the contents of the ITE Law so that criminalization and penalization policies can be synchronized with the Criminal Code as well as the reality of the society.
