Abstract

Advocates have an important role in law enforcement efforts. Any proceedings, whether criminal, civil, state administration, even the state structure, which always involve the profession advocate position is equal with other law enforcement agencies. In efforts to combat corruption, particularly the practice of mob justice, lawyers can play a major role by interrupting the chain of judicial mafia practices occur. The purpose of this law is to determine the role of advocate in controlling corruption and advocate barrier in controlling corruption. Research location in the city of Yogyakarta with the subject of research in Yogyakarta Legal Aid Institute. Data were collected by way of literature study, and documentation. The data in this study were analyzed with descriptive methods, ie data obtained from primary and secondary data are described in a systematic and logical deductive pattern according to, and then explained, and integrate based on scientific principles. Conclusion The results of the research, advocates in controlling corruption is expected to pay more attention to the principle of interest and public services, and the reality of community life in handling corruption cases, since without due regard to the possibility of criminal suspects will escape corruption charges unlawful acts.
