Abstract

This thesis has discussed the responsibility of transporters in transporting people on the Mount Merapi Lava Tour. In transportation activities, there was an agreement between the carrier and tourists who declared to carried out transportation safely and intact. One of the agreement contents was the responsibilities of the carrier in the event of default. One of these defaults can occur when an accident occurred. Some accidents happened to tourists who used Lava Tour service. According to the absolute principle, the accountability was carried out by the community that consisted of the basecamp coordinator and the jeep driver. Used inductive thinking, this research drew a general conclusion based on the facts that exist in Lava Tour transportation activities. This research was conducted by interviewing 22 communities. If there was an accident during the Mount Merapi Lava Tour, the results were obtained that the accountability was carried out directly by the community who were members of the Asosiasi Jeep Wisata Lereng Merapi because tourists were covered by insurance. Then the losses that caused minor injuries, serious injuries, and death will be accounted for by the transporter in a family manner.
