Abstract

This thesis is entitled as The Significance of The Collective Marks of Surakarta Laweyan Batik Industry. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and to explain the benefits of batik Laweyan marks registered as a collective marks and to explain the position of the collective marks of laweyan batik on personal marks. The research used is empirical legal research with primary data and secondary data. The conclusion of this thesis is that the registration of batik Laweyan as a collective marks provides benefits for batik Laweyan Surakarta entrepreneurs, which is an identity that makes it easier for consumers to recognize the products, increase interest in batik Laweyan, and establish the cooperation between batik entrepreneurs in Laweyan batik village. The collective marks can be used as an alternative in protecting batik entrepreneurs in the village of batik Laweyan and the use of collective marks is more effective than the use of personal marks.
