Abstract

ABSTRACT Increasing the number of transportation equipment in the city every year also has an impact on increasing the amount of exhaust gas or emissions released into the surrounding air. The increase in exhaust gas has the potential to cause air pollution in the sleman regency. One effort to control air pollution carried out by the Sleman Regency Government is to regulate urban forest management in Sleman. Based on the background of the above problem, the authors are interested in conducting legal research with the title Protection of air quality through urban forest management in Sleman Regency. In this legal research the author examines how the application of air quality protection through urban forest management in Sleman Regency. obstacles and solutions in protecting air quality through urban forest management. Legal research is conducted using empirical research methods with data in the form of primary legal sources, secondary legal materials and tertiary legal materials. Data collection was carried out by field studies and librarianship studies, while to analyze data using qualitative analysis comparing data in the field with primary and secondary legal materials. With the drawal method using deductive inference method. Based on the results of the research and analysis of the author, it can be stated as the results of the study as follows: that the application of air quality protection through the regulation of urban forest that has been running is not effective, because it has not fulfilled the urban forest area in accordance with the legal mandate. Constraints faced in the context of protecting air quality through urban forest management, namely the limited land for public open space Green procurement due to the high price of land offered by the community. the solution is to obtain land above the land that has been designated as urban forest by buying land that is available to the community by the Sleman Regency government.
