Abstract

ABSTRACT As a final landfill in Yogyakarta, a slight of mismanagement on Piyungan Landfill (TPA) can potentially disrupt the living environment and livelihood of the people around it. Regarding on this issue, the writer emphasized this research with two questions. First, how is Piyungan being managed as the final landfill in Bantul? Second, what are the obstacles on that landfill management? The research was elaborated using empirical legal method with the data that was collected from interviews and literature study. The writer concluded that Piyungan Landfill under the Bureau of Waste-Management in Yogyakarta, has not been operated effectively. The management of Piyungan Landfill waste as environmental pollution control effort has not properly been conducted due to some obstacles. Some obstacles hindered the waste-management processed in Piyungan Landfill, such as the lack of space/ land and the lack of people awareness around the landfill.
