Abstract

The title of this legal writing is the role of the natural resource conservation center in controlling the trade in protected wildlife in Berau district. protected wildlife has ecological functions in an ecosystem. the widespread trade in protected wildlife has the potential to disrupt the ecological function of protected wildlife. The problem in this study is what is the role of the natural resource conservation center in controlling the trade in protected wildlife in Berau distric and what are the obstacles faced by natural resource conservation centers in controlling the trade in protected wildlife in Berau district. This legal writing used empirical method, and focused on sosial facts. That the trade in protected wildlife in the regency has a lot to do, especially during holidays both on a small scale and on large scale. Even in the case of trafficking in the protected wildlife, there are already criminal proceedings. The conclusion of this legal writing is that the natural resource consevation centar has collaborated with police and centarl for orang utan protection in carrying out pre-emptive, preventive, repressive, recovery measures. The constraints faced by the natural resource conservation centar are the lack of infrastructure and the lack of public awareness about the importance of maintaining the ecosystem. The author advice is that it is, necessary to involve the community in controlling protected wildlife, improving facilites, and always coordinating with the police and central of orang utan protection.
