Abstract
PT. MRM is engaged in metal casting which produces various types of metal products of farmer's engine components: Engine Pulley YST, Main Pulley YM 70, Main Pulley YCF and the next products are for components of mining machinery and the last is manhole components. The objectives of this research are how to identify the defects that often occur in the production floor by proposed improvements to reduce the product defects. Quality control that can help to reduce product defects is to use the seven steps method. Based on the analysis, many defects that occur are cracked defects and the surface of uneven products. From the analysis that has been done, the action taken to overcome the problem is an improvement in measuring the main and additional raw materials. After the action was carried out, the defect rate was reduced for cracked type defects by 39.8% and for the surface type of uneven products by 31.8%.
