Abstract

Transportation is a very important field of activity in Indonesian people‟s lives. The importance of needed for transportation is comfort, safety, and smooth transportation that supports the implementation of development in the form of sector distribution throughout of the countryside. The growth of Motorcycle Rickshaw was increasing and spread in the city of Yogyakarta and its surroundings, caused by several factors including the development and mindset of an increasingly modern society, increasing economic demanded and aging age of Rickshaw motorcycle driver, demanded from passengers who are concerned with the time factor and vehicle load. This study used library research method because the research problems that researcher write can be answered through library research. The main characteristic of library study was that researcher deal directly with text or numerical data and not direct knowledge from the field or witnesses in the form of event, people or other objects. Library data was ready to used. That library data was generally a secondary source which researcher obtain material from previous researcher. That the condition of library data not limited by space and time. The result was that the Motorcycle Rickshaw consists of two parts that are put together, namely the front in the form of a motorcycle that was modified in the back covering the frame, brake system, transmission, and wheels as well as the rear in the form of a train with house. The motorcycle was not affected by the obligation to have equipment, equipment that must be fulfilled by the motorcycle are the front and rear position light, reflector on the back side, directional lights, brake lights and Hazard light. The loading method is two seats facing the front side by side, and passenger luggage was placed in front near the feet of the passenger. Technically, the design of the Rickshaw Motorcycle design has fulfilled the requirement based on Government Regulation number 55 of 2012 concerning Vehicles.
