Abstract

The environment could lbe very influential in all activities of human life. Various efforts from the government to carry out environmental management and prevention of environmental pollution have been carried out, but the problem of environmental pollution has not subsided yet, one of the problem is a refuse. In Pekanbaru city, refuse also becomes a problem. The changes in people's lifestyles that have been going into the modern era now, make people do a lot of activities that can produce 1,100 tons of refuse per day, so to overcome this it is necessary to do good waste management. The government of Pekanbaru established the Local Regulation number 8 of 2014 concerning refuse management as an effort to control environmental pollution in Pekanbaru. The formulation of the problem raised is how the effectiveness of regional regulation number 8 of 2014 concerning refuse management as an effort to control environmental pollution in Pekanbaru city. The type of research used is empirical research, based on the results of research and the discussion the author concluded that Regional Regulation number 8 of 2014 has not been effective in controlling environmental pollution as a effect of a refuse in Pekanbaru because the goal of the regional regulation has not been realized yet.
