Abstract

Sugar factory is one of the industries that produce waste, both solid waste, gas, and liquid waste. Waste generated by sugar mills is one of the challenges because it can have a negative impact on the environment. Many of these industries dispose into the river without any prior processing or have been carried out but still do not meet the quality standards set by the government, thus the waste can be used for the environment. The purpose of this research is to find out the role of sugar factories Madukismo was in the prevention of pollution due to factory waste in Bantul Regency and learned of involvement in the role of the Madukismo sugar factory in pollution of factory waste pollution in Bantul Regency. In this study, researchers used a descriptive qualitative research method. This study took place in the village of Padokan, Tirtonirmolo, Kasihan, Bantul, Yogyakarta The results of this study state that the fulfillment of these strict Environmental Quality Standards is very important for specific safety that is good and healthy and not good regarding the communities involved around the industrial area. In this case, the Madukismo Factory in Bantul Regency has met the Environmental Quality Standards for the disposal of its waste. Furthermore, factory waste consists of solid, liquid and gas waste. Solid waste can consist of bagasse and blotong, exhaust gas, or air, ash particles coming out of the chimney of the sugar factory, and liquid waste that can be utilized by the community around the factory. Constraints and solutions in the role of the Madukismo sugar factory in the approval of factory waste pollution in Bantul Regency can be conveyed as the waste from the Madukismo Factory is organic waste containing organic waste from human food ingredients that contains organic substances and can still be reproduced. The nature of this organic waste is not dangerous but in the case of Madukismo factory waste it does indeed cause odor. For this reason, the environmental watchdog, in this case the Bantul Regency Environmental Service Office, can carry out joint supervision of the Bantul Regency Industry, Trade and Cooperative Office on the Madukismo Sugar factory.
