Abstract

This thesis is the author gave the title "criminology study of crime with a firearm in the police jurisdiction of the Special Region of Yogyakarta and surrounding areas". One of the crime of disturbing the public is a crime to use firearms. These crimes are many kinds, such as the crime of murder, severe ill-treatment, theft by weighting, lawyer threat, kidnapping, and so forth. The rampant spread of firearms among civilians is a global phenomenon. Not ordered his supervise the possession of firearms, both legal and illegal are owned by the general public, police and military, is one of the causes of the crimes with firearms abuse in Indonesia. In Indonesia, definite figures on trafficking of firearms, both legal and illegal is difficult to obtain, although its circulation in certain civil society to rise sharply. Due to administrative reasons for firearm ownership is less orderly supervised, then the police do not know exactly how many firearms are circulating in society, because ownership of illegal firearms is very difficult to trace. Based on this, then there are some things we can see, such is what causes so that the occurrence of these crimes, what provisions of law against the perpetrators of the abuse of firearms, as well as what obstacles faced and efforts made by the police in tackling the crimes.Various factors such as economic difficulties, the influence of environment and lack of employment or industrial jobs are some of the causes of crime using firearms in the region of the Yogyakarta Police. Police budget needs that have not been in accordance with the standard patrol needs, the limited number of police personnel in carrying out the functions of the police patrol, the lack of public attention to the surrounding environment, less active people to a crime that occurred in the surrounding environment is also a constraint faced by the Yogyakarta Police in tackling these crimes using firearms.
