Abstract

The diversity of natural resources owned by Indonesia is a challenge for the government in managing its natural products so that they can be utilized by the Indonesian people. Humans as the rulers of the environment have a very important role in preserving the environment they occupy. Much of the damage caused by human actions cannot be accounted for. Excessive use of nature has a major impact on the environment due to waste. One of them is tailings waste which is the result of mining activities of PT Freeport, a mineral mining company affiliated with mining and processing ore to produce concentrate containing copper, gold and silver. PT Freeport's mining activities have negative impacts that are detrimental to the community and the environment. Mining activities are also not in accordance with mining principles and legal regulations related to applicable environmental laws and environmental pollution laws. This is what makes PT Freeport carry out environmental conservation and community programs as a form of its responsibility. The use of tailings as a raw material for concrete mixtures for the manufacture and development of infrastructure in districts and provinces continues to be carried out with the aim of reducing the negative impact of these tailings. However, the constraints in the use of tailings are due to the fact that the tailings qualify into the B3 class which cannot be utilized by the community and the environment.
